Moving Forward

Well, it has been a very difficult few weeks. The physical recovery was very rough. My ovaries were bigger than oranges. Each day gets a little better and I'm finally able to live my life like normal, almost. Exercise, like walking up a flight of stairs, is still difficult. I only ended up with 6 embryos frozen. It's not the number I wanted, but they are decent quality. I will start the implant process the end of August and hopefully implant two embryos the middle of September. Hopefully those 6 embryos will get me my two children.

In other news, we are almost done with the selling of our house. The inspection and appraisal came back great so we will be closing in just over a week. We will then make the final decisions on the new house and get that started. We are excited and overwhelmed with all that has gone on this past month. Hopefully this time next year I will be in my beautiful new home with a baby in my arms. Hopefully my dreams aren't too big.

Other than my slow recovery, things are going well. I've decided today that I've been too negative about my life. I've been so blessed and I forget to look at the good. I'm surrounded by good, and I've only seen the bad. So, I'm changing my point of view.

My wonderful mom is taking such good care of my puppies that they aren't going to want to come home from Texas. They are down there while we live with the in-laws and build our house. They get to go on long walks down empty dirt roads and Bella gets to chase birds and run through corn fields. Floyd has only gotten out a few times, and only gotten into the neighbors chickens once....I'm sure it was one of the best moments of his life. We are so excited to see them and family over Thanksgiving.

I'll keep you all updated on progress.

Wrong

I was definitely wrong about feeling better. We went in for egg retrieval Tuesday morning. It went really well in that we got 35 eggs. That's a lot! But, I've been so sick. I got really bad OHSS. I've been sick and could hardly do anything these past few days. I've slept a lot. I'm finally keeping solid foods down. Anyway, let's just say that Tuesday was hard enough that I don't think I can put myself through this again. So instead of implanting the embryos this weekend, we are waiting for my body to recover for a few months. Hopefully the beginning of September we will be able to implant.
So, as for numbers, as I said we got 35 eggs, 20 of which were mature. So they fertilized those 20 but also let the remaining eggs mature on their own and see if they could get any of those to fertilize. We got 14 of the mature eggs that are doing well, one of the eggs that wasn't mature still fertilized, so we have 15 total embryos. We will know probably Monday how many make it through the weekend and can be frozen. Hopefully enough for me to get 2 kids. That's all I want.
Every day gets a little easier. I'm still not up for much activity, but am hoping to conquer the grocery store this evening. baby steps.

Trials

So, egg retrieval is tomorrow morning first thing. They warned me from the beginning that I have a very high risk of Ovarian Hyper Stimulation. This is when your ovaries get way too big because they are over stimulated and it makes you really sick. Well, I already have it and it's only getting worse. I was put on bed rest Saturday because they are getting so big. As of Sunday morning my ovaries were the size of oranges. I have been really sick from it and in pain. They are still going to do egg retrieval tomorrow, but if it gets too bad they will put off implant (like they originally planned) until my body recovers. I did my trigger shot last night and now it's just a waiting game until tomorrow. As hard as this has all been, physically and emotionally, I've never had so much hope and faith. I've somehow managed to stick myself with needles multiple times a day and now don't even hesitate. I used to pass out when I got my blood drawn, now I don't flinch. I don't wish this on anyone. IVF isn't easy at all. However, knowing it's the only chance I have at ever having kids, I'm willing to try. I knew it would be difficult, but after as sick as I've been I don't think I realized how hard. But, now I have less than 24 hours and hopefully will start feeling better. If I'm feeling up to it I'll blog about how many eggs tomorrow after I'm home. If not, I'll get around to it soon. Thanks for all of the well wishes and prayers. You have all been amazing supports to me, thank you!
